Synopsis: Shichika Yasuri is the seventh leader of the martial art known as Kyoto-Ryuu, and lives an isolated existence on an island with his sister, Nanami. One day a military leader Togame tells him the story of twelve legendary katana, inspiring Shichika to go on a journey to find them.

This series will be airing one episode per month, each with about 50m runtime. So, after a great rebellion, the hero Mutsue, who stoped it was exiled to an island for fear of his strength. Today, his daughter, Nanami and son, Shichika, still live there, being that his son as kept the family’s special "sword" style alive.
Togame, a Shogunate’s strategist, arrives at the island to request Shichika’s help. There’s one famous sword maker, Shikizaki, who was close to the original head of the Kyotouryuu. He made 12 special swords which are said to defeat entire armies. Togame wants Shichika’s help in retrieving them before old rebels get a hold of them. Meanwhile, all the ninjas and swordsman they sent yet, disappeared having obtained the swords for themselves.

Togame wants Shichika to help her out of love, she says it very bluntly lol. One of the 12 Maniwa ninja corps head has come with her to kill her and Shichika. He has some interesting abilities. Still, he fights Shichika and he’s no match. The action wasn’t anything great, far from that, since I was expecting the action to be one this episode’s highlights. Maniwa Koumori ends up telling the truth about Togame’s reasons to Shichiko. She’s the daughter of the rebel Mutsue killed and her goal is to raise in the Shogunate and eventually rule it. Not sure on how much of that is real. Anyway, Shichika gets interested in her for real and it also seems she cares for him so, they both leave to complete the task.
The music was okay, what you would expect from a "samurai" based anime, still not anything that really influenced me. The OP is okay, has some really nice art that reminds of old Japanese stuff and the Okami game. My main problem with it is that I definitely don’t like the music. It’s more or less the same with the ED.

Overall, this episode was weird, no only the art but also the dialogs and the way characters think. Although that’s good in it’s own way, making this anime quite different from most out there. There’s some very subtle comedy throughout the episode, mainly related to Shichika being dumb. It let me down a little because I was expecting more eye candy and definitely more and better action. Still, this series has potential and I’m expecting it to get better, while I’ll also probably get more used to this style in future episodes. The next episode preview looks good.
