Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 36-37

Team work is falling apart in Team Kakashi, but Yamato has a strategy to counter this, witch makes for a lot of scary/funny scenes. I think they could have portrayed Sakura’s punch scene better, cutting in the middle of the scene to show another greatly reduced the effect.

As usual the story didn’t get much development and was a little boring, but still enjoyable. We end with a little cliffhanger featuring the spy.

This episode didn’t have the same quality as the last, but it was nice enough. The backgrounds continue to be beautiful and not boring, it’s good to see Konoha and other locations drawn as they should be. We are finally getting to the part of the story that we were shown in the first episode.

Although it’s not official at this point, episode 40 seems to have the title "Kyuubi Unleashed". Ahhh! Really can´t wait, just seeing the OP..

Bleach - Episode 149

Filed under: Ongoing Anime / Bleach

This arc has some inconsistencies in the character’s strength. Rukia seemed really week in the beginning against the menos and Ashido, who doesn’t even have shikai. Now she seems normal again and the adjuchas are now problem for her.

I can´t help but feel stupid watching Ichigo and the others searching for Nel lol.

I was surprised to see some pretty well animated fight scenes, for a filler, although some shots were copied from previous episodes. Ichigo’s fight was really awesome, I think there was a very similar animation in one of the ops, but I can’t remember.

It’s obvious at this point Bleach is catching up to the manga pretty fast. Maybe they will stretch it like Naruto. Anyway, I think it is pretty probable that Ashido will be returning in the end of the "Saving Inoue" arc for some more filler.

Overall, this filler ended up not being that bad **cough**, (I’m a sucker for fights, I see a small good one and everything is good).

It seems like the next episode will continue the manga storyline. I can’t wait to see it animated! I especially liked this episode’s comedy sketch at the end, go figure lol.

Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 35

In this episode, Team Kakashi gathers and everyone is introduced to each other. Sai continues to dis Naruto and also Sakura. Kakashi, Yamato, Jiraya and Tsunade meet to discuss Naruto, and we are told some interesting stuff about Naruto’s training with Jiraya.

The plot is still evolving slowly, but the way everything comes together is very good. All the characters were drawn in a really emotive way. There’s also a lot of zooms, close-up cameras and some nifty effects that, when synchronized with the audio, really draw your attention to the show.

This was without a doubt one of the best episodes yet. I was really disappointed with some episodes of this series, and I already conformed that we would only see some truly good stuff in some more action-oriented episodes. I’m glad it’s not turning out like that.

Bleach - Episode 148

Filed under: Ongoing Anime / Bleach

This episode continues the filler arc with Ashido. One Adjucha is killed and Ashido suffers a serious wound. The story drama was done well, considering this is a filler. As for the fights, they weren’t animated well and weren’t given a lot of though. Ashido is an interesting character for me and will probably appear again later in the story if he doesn’t die.

It seems this arc will end in the next episode, I don’t see how they could drag this more without becoming truly bad. Maybe then they will continue the manga plot. I’ll blog this series more seriously when that happens.

Full Metal Alchemist - Chapter 77

full metal alchemist 77

Burdened with all the other peoples faith in him, Ed fights to remain alive gaining the alliance of the two chimeras. Elsewhere Al also wakes and it seems like his blackouts may indicate that he doesn’t have much time left before the armor totally rejects his soul.

After the great last chapter, things seem to calm down.

full metal alchemist 77

This chapter brought some new revelations. Al’s group finds the secret hidden in Scar’s brother’s book. It’s a transmutation circle that includes both rentanjutsu and alchemy. What this circle does exactly is not for the reader to know yet. At the same time, Kimblee stumbles upon some kind of cavern where the debris from Sloth’s tunnels was dumped. Here, in the darkness Kimblee has very interesting encounter with Pride. Pride orders Kimblee but it seems like Kimblee is meeting him for the first time.

Things are certainly going to get interesting if Kimblee takes Sloth to help him kill Briggs, specially knowing that the Homunculus plan is almost finished and that Al is nearing his time limit. The next chapters will probably be more fast paced and action packed. Can’t wait!

Naruto - Chapter 377

Filed under: Ongoing Manga / Naruto

naruto 377

After a week of sadness Naruto is back! Also, we got a color starting page and a poster to make it up! This chapter continues the fight between Jiraya and Pein.

This chapter comes with a dose of good humor, Jiraya and the 2 frogs are hilarious. It seems like Jiraya’s Hermit Mode is strong and so, Pein summons two human bodies to battle. These two "bodies" are dressed in Akatsuki clothes, have piercings, the Rin’negan and orange hair, witch gives them a style very similar to Pein. They don’t seem to be alive, as Pein freely controls them. They make a good combination against Giraya. Although their full range of abilities are still unknown, Pein seems to use one for close taijutsu attacks and the other to absorb Giraya’s chakra attacks defending the other two.

All of Giraya’s attack are ineffective even when he attacks their blind spots. He concludes they must be using the Rin’negan to see through each others eyes.

At this point, I can’t see how Tobi and Pein come together. Tobi is, supposedly, the leader, but Pein talks of bringing destruction to the world, because of the pain he felt and how he matured, etc, like he is the one wanting it and using Akatsuki to that end. That is his  and Konan’s personal goal. Why would Tobi want that? He doesn’t even seem to be from the rain village. As for the other remaining Akatsuki members, do they know the true purpose of Pein? They were told a different story when Hidan asked, back in the cave. Why has Tobi kept his leader role hidden from the others? Does he have the mangekyou? I personally think that at least Itachi must have an idea of what’s truly going on, because of his knowledge of the sharingan history. I think he and Kisame may turn away from Akatsuki, or  a least, are using Akatsuki for their own personal purposes. There’s also Zetsu who is still shrouded in mystery.

I’m gessing we will uncover a lot of secrets behind the main story line through this arc.

Although this Pein/Jiraya arc has been rather good, I’m more interested on what will happen when and if Team Hebi, the Konoha platoons and Itachi/Kisame meet.
