Bleach - Episode 168
The New Captain Appears! His name is Amagai Shuusuke
There’s a new OP and ED stating this episode. It’s high quality this time with nice animation. It’s all related with the new filler arc, which makes me believe that this arc will last an entire season.
The fillers have started. Ichigo doesn’t appear in this episode, but I guess they will find some excuse to bring him out of Hueco Mundo in order to enter in this arc. I hope that doesn’t create some plot holes, because of the manga’s original story.
The episode starts with the new captain being introduced to the others. The 3rd squad doesn’t trust him yet and everybody is waiting for Amagai to prove himself. Kira, always sad mooded, is feeling a lot of pressure to make things work between his new captain and the 3rd squad’s shinigamis.
This creates some funny situations as Kira tries harder than it’s really needed.
The 3rd squad gets called to eliminate some hollows in Severing World. There’s a weird problem and the Seizing Currents are not deactivated. The squad gets in trouble, but Amagai manages to save everyone.
Was this problem just so that Amagai could get along better with his subordinates, or is it related to the main plot of the arc?
Overall, the episode very good, nothing special happened and I didn’t think it was funny but, it managed to be okay.
From the upcoming episode’s names, the fillers will certainly last at least until episode 172. But then again, they will probably last the whole season.
I think the new Captain was Ok for a filler guy… but I think he has to die in the end.

yeah, probably.
they will certainly get some excuse to take away all the filler characters. most will probably die, like like in the bounto arc. but some got off alive and may still appear in the future, if the creators decide to.
