Naruto - Chapter 398
The Leaf’s Origins

Madara continues his story about Itachi, although he still doesn’t explain his part in all of it.

Tobi says that the Uchiha’s massacre was done by Itachi on orders from Konoha’s top brass. And that Itachi didn’t have bad intentions.
Why would this be? Was there a good enough reason for wanting every Uchiha dead? Wre they going to become dangerous? Why leave Sasuke alive? Was that the personal doing of Itachi or was he ordered to let him live? Knowing the Third’s personality, I can’t believe he agreed to that mission.
How does Madara come into this story?
It seems there’s always been a conflit between Konoha and the Uchiha Clan. Tobi explains how he got the Mangekyo and how the Uchiha first came into contact with the Senju Clan of the Forest. At this time I would think that Madara, having the Mangekyo, would be stronger than the First.

The cover’s headline makes me believe that the Sharingan has been used to control the Kyuubi and prevent catastrophe. Maybe they want them dead, because they have the potential to control the Kyuubi? Maybe the Kyuubi’s attack happened from an Uchiha’s revenge? But, was it Madara? Then why would he help Itachi? And how does this fit with "promising child" story? Who’s Naruto supposed to kill?
Senju looks cool and confident. We will have to wait for the next issue to know how this "conflict" begun.
