Naruto learns of the difficulty of the next step in his training. It may even be impossible for him to create such a powerful technique. The first episode was just a lot of fillers about all the teams reaching an exchange point and preparing to ambush Akatsuki. It did a nice job of trying to make the viewers believe that it would be Chouji team to find them. Not that it mattered to the people who already read the manga.
The scenes were well adapted from the manga. I just would have liked them to not have interrupted when Asuma was about to face Hidan for the first time.
The animation was average. One or another scene had some excelent animation. Still, it was all well done. They added some more filler with Asuma being able to use the same jutsu as Chiriku. And also some stuff with Asuma teaching Shikamaru about the value of a life vs a mission’s success.
I’m not sure why but, I just can’t find Hidan as funny as in the manga. It’s like he’s lacking some expression or something but, it’s probably just me. It was still funny when he got pissed that Asuma was one of the 12 Guardians.
I hope the next episode has that really good animation, because they are normally doing two extremely well done episodes per season and the next episode and the one where (spoiler) Naruto faces them are probably the two most important episodes.
