Fullmetal Alchemist - Episode 4

An Alchemist’s Distress

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 4

Shou Tucker’s arc all compressed into one episode but, following the manga now. They are losing some depth in the storyline with all this rush but, I still prefer it this way.

Scar’s first appearance also happens in this episode. He fight’s and kill’s the Iron Blood Alchemist. The fight was short but cool and well done. It shows well Scar’s skill and how he easly he can get a powerful battle oriented alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 4

Shou Tuckers’s arc was well done. There wasn’t much build up with just one episode but, it still worked really well. In the end Shou dies along with the chimera, just like in the manga.

Things are going to get busier now with the main story-line emerging. The next episode will probably be about Ed and Al griefing and their first encounter with Scar and the Armstrong Alchemist.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 4

Can’t wait to see how they are going to animate the fight and if they are going to do something more than with the first season. This series will probably start improving a lot from now on with the first arc’s gone. Can’t wait for Lin to appear.. I hope he’s part of this new season.

  • Next Episode: Rain of Sorrow

  1. all I know is that when I first saw this episode in the old anime I was really moved at the end…i literally couldn’t stop feeling sad about the girl and dog…

With this episode..its either because I already knew what was going to happen…that the emotional connection to the girl and dog was much weaker…so at the end of it I wasn’t as moved..but a little sad none the less…

I am glad they are moving ahead quickly…i just hope that sooner or later they slow down and start to flesh out the different characters…i am sure there are some differences in characters between the old and new anime…

So far that’s whats missing I think…(for me atleast)…an attachment to the characters….

  2. yeah, im expecting this to calm down after this initial episodes, the diferent manga material that wasnt in the first series has already shown in the last episode, so i think it souldnt be long. then it will probably have a pace similar to the beginning of season 1 and all the characters will be fleshed out well.
man, just thinking about Lin and some others.. its gonna be awesome, if they just maintained this pace it would ruin everything, but im sure they will slow down, or the whole story would happen in just 13 episodes, and they would be losing money at the same time that they lose quality, i dont think anyone would do that. normaly, anime only lose quality to increase money, like naruto over extended episodes that allow the creators to squeese us more money, so to speak lol

  3. hehe I agree…i never did finishthe original naruto..although I admit I got pretty close :P and considering I never finished naruto 1 I couldn’t be bothered starting naruto 2 :P But that’s just me :P

I have read the FMA manga…so hopefully the current anime will do it justice in the end :)

  4. hey, maybe, and maybe probably, you dropped naruto during it’s fillers seasons, which are horribly bad.
and its like this, those seasons, just think they never existed, some episodes after Sasuke and Naruto’s final fight, you just skip ahead to the last episode where Jiraya takes Naruto on a trip with him and that’s it. All the 200 episodes in the middle of that, never happened in the manga, and were just fillers, really bad fillers with very poor budgets.
just skip it, if you have already watched until those fillers started, then you are in the perfect position to continue with shippuuden. it follows the rest of the manga, although it made about 1 chapter per episode which makes it very boring but, its worthy in my opinion, there’s always some excelent episodes amidst the boring ones and the show’s pace gets faster and normal again after the first season

  5. at some point I may look back and (when I feel like it) I might watch the second season :P

I should correct my second post..i havent actaully read the FMA manga :P

I always find that if I read the manga and the anime follows the manga, then I have already been spoilt…and givent he imagination I already have, having a manga animated still feels like a repeat to me :P but that’s just me :)

  6. probably everyone feels like you in that anime/manga thing. for me, its more like this though, I normally enjoy manga more than anime. so if im gonna watch or read one, i normally start with the manga instead of the anime, I prefer to spoil the anime than the manga.
as for the story being spoiled, well, it takes some off the anime but, the plot isn’t really one the most important aspects to me in movies and animation. because, no matter how awesome or horrible the plot is, the anime/live action, can either be awesome too or suck, no matter the type of plot.
haven’t you seen films based on great novels that you loved? and the story is there but the movie sucks? so, im not saying its not important to me, but the plot isn’t the most influential factor for me to enjoy something like that.

  7. haha yes you do have an excellent point there..

i think what you are refering to is the atmosphere of the anime/liveaction. To me this is a combination of the character traits, their situation, the setting, the execution of the roles or animation style etc

I guesss to me the plot and the atmosphere are both important. if a anime and manga are essentially the same (i.e the atmosphere the anime creates is similar to the manga) then I don’t feel surprised as the story unfolds…

I guess for me both aspects are critical in order for enjoyment:P Everyone is different in this aspect :P
