Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 14
Those Who Lurk Underground
Greed decides to escape, seeing as he his outmatched and really has no meaning in killing them. Still, Bradley who’s near, discovers what’s happening (unless he already knew and came on purpose).
Anyway, the fight and overall situation is awesome. Loved this in the manga, love it known. It’s really well done and animated. Bradley comes to take Greed and does so fairly easy, we learn that Bradley is an hommunculus too. As he’s only sixty years old (more or less) and Greed has run away a long time ago, he didn’t know about him. There also shouldn’t be and "human"/aging hommunculus.. more on that on further episodes..
As for the chimeras, all of them are easily killed by the military, except for the more powerful ones that Greed kept close. Armstrong, who fights too, witnesses again the ruthless of the military. Just like in Ishbal, the Fuhrer gives order to exterminate.
This episode surprised me more and more as Greed and Bradley’s battle progressed, increasing the animation quality. I wasn’t expecting this episode to be this high since there was already a lot of nice stuff in the last one. I guess this series really has a big budget, which is awesome.
Anyway, you can’t really help but feel pity for Greed and his men. Even though they are kind of the bad guys, their sense of pride and morality is high. I got really sad again that all this characters had to go. The fact that Bradley is an hommunculus (and supposedly evil) helps this (it’s like the real bad guys won, just like when Hughes dies). This is also what I love about Fullmetal, it’s one of those series that is not afraid to do things. It’s also not afraid to cut people in half.. Not sure what’s happening with Bleach. And the plot finally gets deeper as you understand that not everything is what it seems. Ed and Al start getting suspicious too.
So, lots of revelations. Almost all homunculus and their master revealed, although their intentions and what they really mean stays a mystery. Anyway, the anime should really drop it’s pace now, the second season will start with the next episode and the story is completly different from the first anime from now on. The new OP and ED should start next week too. And almost forgot, due to extreme scenes, Al has remembered the "truth" and should now be able to use alchemy by just clapiing his hands.
Too bad Greed has to return to his "maker" so soon but, you never know.. so don’t worry ;) Loved this episode, loved this arc. This is my favorite anime of the moment now that Hajime No Ippo: New Challenger has ended. Can’t wait for the second season!
