Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 18

On the Palm of an Arrogant Human Being

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 18

Ed goes on a trip to visit the ruins of Xerxes. It’s easy to see that something related happened there, and it’s the probable origin of both alchemies. Ed also learns about Mustang’s plan. Also, Mustang is already predicting the humunculus plan, he’s actually manipulating them. Ling and his guards also help and right now, all of the good guys are together in this.

Meanwhile, Barry gets attacked by his original body. A fight breaks out. Later, Gluttony appears. Ed learns of something important, Winry’s parents killer.. was Scar. I guess Ed will be the one chasing Scar now.

To tell the truth, it was a great episode but, it disappointed me a lot. The action scenes that started in the second half, along with what will be happening in the next episode, were really awesome and intense. The direction of this episode changed how a lot of stuff happened and took much from the fight. The fact that it’s separated into two episodes doesn’t help.

For example, the way Gluttony appeared in the manga, Hawk’s words and the way the chapter ended were much more intense and shocking that this one. Even without music, the manga really did a better job, I wonder if anyone agrees with me.

Anyway, I hope the next episode redeems this one in this aspect. Still, very nice episode, I guess I just had higher expectations.
