Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 22

Distant Backs

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 22

Ling comes for his subordinate right away but, he can’t fight Wrath and Gluttony together with Ran Fan on his shoulder. Meanwhile, Ed and Al face Scar. Not getting the signal from Ling, they have to buy time. Al starts talking about the past and Ed takes the oppurtunity to clear the Rockbells issue. Scar doesn’t explain them what happened but, we are shown in a flashback. It’s not like something that could be well described in words. Scar’s past is really bad, probably worst than the brothers and Winry.

Winry who had just arrived, learns the truth. She grabs a gun, trying to kill Scar. I’m not gonna try to explain it anymore because, it would never sound as awesome as touching as in the anime. The whole scene was really touching, even though I had already read it. Not many movies and series make me feel like this lol. Really dramatic.

On to the rest, the animation wasn’t that good. I mean, it looked different in style. Ling’s fight was strange and not very exciting but, I understand it maybe happened to save some budget. As for Ed, there were some cool details like when Ed jumped to grab the pipe from the wall. Anyway, the art got better as Scar’s flashback came. Really nice.

Overall, I think this was one of Fullmetal’s best episodes, for the plot and how it was presented.

Next episode seems to cover Ling and Al now that they are fighting alone. Seems like there will be some cool fight scenes. By the way, loved Kimblee’s first appearance in action.
