Drifters - Chapter 6

The Powerless Ones

Drifters 6

In the village, the human army unit, commanded by Aram, is assaulting the elves because of the two children that helped Toyohisa. It seems there was a war that put the humans in power. Then, the elves were forced to become farmers, although the restrictions they live with actually make it impossible to live. Their woman have also been taken and it seems their extinction, along with other races like Hobbits and Dwarfs, is an objective.

Aram also mentions that the Octobrist Organizations is the one who’s supposed to deal with drifters.

Anyway, Toyohisa rushes ahead and reaches the village, he kills some soldiers and meets Aram. It seems they are no match for him, I doubt Aram will live if they battle.

Meanwhile, Nobunaga is setting fire to fields. He’s using a strategy that was used in his time. He’s taking the only thing the elves have left so they just don’t care anymore and rely on anything to survive. Which means, he’s making them start a rebellion. Well, at least we now know he wasn’t thinking of conquering the whole country, or whatever it is the humans control, alone lol.

I’m really liking this, can’t wait for the next chapter.

The Sound Of Heels

Drifters 5

Suddenly, they notice the village from those elf-looking things is being attacked. Toyohisa rushes forward to pay back the ones who saved him, and maybe something more. Anyway, the two other follow him, along the way we are told their ages. Yoichi is just nineteen..

Anyway, the find the brats first and save them. Then they go on to the village to .."take" it? lol They really have nothing but conquest in their heads.

Funny and entertaining chapter, too bad it’s so short. At least, it seems the next chapter will come out the 10th of September. Not long to wait.

The Moon Over The Castle In Ruins

Drifters 4

It seems time passes differently in this new world or they are just thrown in the same time line, independent of the time they lived in. Toyohisa continues to distrust Nobunaga’s story. He becomes even more incredulous when the girl presents her self as Yoichi but, he ends up accepting it.

Meanwhilie, we learn about two new Drifters and some kind of order who rules thos lands. They seemed technologically evolved, maybe they have something to do with the drifters.

It was cool seeing the characters realize that no matter how big their clans and stuff were, they all inevitably disappeared.

It ends with the elves village being attacked. Not sure if the 3 drifters will get involved.

I still have no idea what to look for in the plot but, it’s really intertaining. I’m loving this series.

The Devil Lord Of The 6th Heaven

Drifters 3

Quite a short chapter. Toyohisa wakes up to find the mysterious girl’s "friend". His instinct are set on alert and when the guy standing in front of him claims to be Nobunaga, he attacks him. Nobunaga was a "legendary" figure, long dead in Toyohisa’s time. Anyway, the fight is stopped by the girl’s arrival.

Drifters 3

She immediatly breaks the fight by "bullying" them lol. She quickly puts Nobunaga preparing the dinner. She then puts Toyohisa helping too. This scene was really funny, I like the "dominant-female" lol

Drifters 3

So, for now, the characters and their relationship is turning quite interesting and funny. As for the plot, still no clues but, there’s big potential. Also knowing it came from Hellsing’s mangaka, I’m really looking forward to this series, too bad the next chapter is only coming out July 30th, and with this one being so short.. :(

Drifters - Chapter 2

So, I really have no idea where that place was. Toyahisa is quickly sent to another place yet again, and I don’t think he ever died anymore. Anyway, the one after him his some kind of WWII soldier.. Why would someone from another time be there after him?

Drifters 2

Anyway, he’s sent to a strange world where "people" talk another language and have enormous hears. Two kids recognized him as a Drifter and take him to the "castle in ruins". It seems like some "Lord" can’t know that Toyohisa, a drifter, has appeared, or he will kill him or something. So, they take him to the castle. Upon arriving, another Drifter appears, he’s very cautious and the fact that he still can’t use this world’s language very well or even understand it creates some funny situations.

So, the girls takes him with her. She’s there along another Drifter. Not sure of their purpose but, they do seem to know something about their "Drifter" situation.

Drifters 2

About these two, judging from their clothes, they seem to be from some more ancient era too, like Toyohisa. I’m guessing that glasses guy just sends people to this worlds in order for them to achieve some kind of objective.

Anyway, the story is looking really interesting now, and the two new characters also seem cool. I also liked that this chapter was funny. It’s looking very good. No idea what the chapter numbers mean.

Drifters 1

Description: The story of Drifters takes place during Japan’s Sengoku period (roughly XV to XVII century), a time of constant warring between the island’s states, and a natural setting of choice for samurai stories.

So, this is the new manga from Hellsing’s mangaka. Well, I’ve never truly read Hellsing, it’s one of those classics that is in my to read list but, I just didn’t get to it yet. I’ll try to read it now that it’s over. Anyway, knowing how Hellsing is supposedly so good and this new manga promises the same, I decided to give it a try. There’s also the fact that it’s a samurai manga, which I love. Even though it may not seem like it, I’ve read a good number of very good samurai manga but, most of them were finished series or I just hadn’t started the blog yet. By the way, I kind of went on a pause with Vagabond when I reached the current chapters (awesome manga), I’ll catch up soon and start blogging it too.

Drifters 1

Now, about the drifters, the description doesn’t really give us much hints about the story, other than it’s setting. So, what’s going on? The story starts with Toyohisa, member of the Shimazu clan, in the middle of some kind of lost battle, still, their main objective is to allow part of the troops to return to Satsuma. For that, Toyohisa and some others are going to "sacrifice" themselves.

Their enemy is the Red Devil of the 2nd branch of the Tokugawa. Toyohisa charges forward, he recklessly lets himself be stabbed so he can get close to Naomasa, leader of the enemies’ current attack. After managing to wound him, the 2nd branch retreats. Toyohisa is left to die without the possibility of a true victory.

Drifters 1

He wonders around for a bit and, supposedly, dies. He then is immediately transfered to some strange world, that looks much like a public social service of our time.

So, this isn’t going to be a normal samurai story after all. The cliffhanger was good. I’m guessing he died and is in some kind of passage to the other world, although here, they really have a service with employees and everything lol. I’m really curious to see what this really is and what will happen to Toyhisa.

Drifters 1

As for the art, I’m still getting used to this style but, most scenes were awesome, specially the cover. As for the action, it wasn’t really about fighting for now. I’m very excited about this manga.
